DAY CENTRE - Rotary House, Norman Road, West Malling
We provide care in comfortable, safe
surroundings. Clients enjoy a freshly cooked lunch and tea and
coffee; with fully trained staff on hand to assist with personal care
needs and good disabled facilities, giving access to social
intergration, assisted bathing, personal care, chiropody, footcare,
handcare and hairdressing.
This service offers the older person to socialize and offers respite for carers. We work closely with other care providers to help relieve isolation and loneliness. We also have adapted minibuses that provide door to door transport to the Day Centre.

The one thing many people miss is being able to have a bath in their own home. This is often because they cannot get into or out of the bath without help or are nervous in case they should slip or fall. Why not enjoy a bath in your own home with the help of one of our qualified bathers.
This service can be provided on a regular basis or on a short term basis and at a pre-arranged time.

SHOPPING SERVICE
This service covers several different areas and clients are taken in fully adapted minibuses to Asda, Kings Hill on a fortnightly basis. Door to door transport is provided and help to take shopping into your house is provided. An annual registration fee, to cover administration costs, is charged as well as a transport fee on the day.

We can offer general information and advice on a wide range of issues, including welfare benefits. If we cannot deal with your problem ourselves we will refer you to the relevant agency. We do not deal with legal matters, finances or income tax.
If you have a Disability Living Allowance (DLA) form or an Attendance Allowance (AA) form that you need help to complete we can offer to do this for you.

TRUSTED TRADESPEOPLE
We have compiled a list of trusted traders as the elderly and vulnerable need access to home maintenance services from reputable people. Our list is made up from traders who have been recommended to us by cleints, parish councils or community groups. We regularly check up to make sure that the work they carry out is reasonably priced and that our clients are happy with the service and price. We also have up to date copies of their Public Liability Insurance, without which we would not recommend them. The types of trades that we have on our list are:
WHEELCHAIR HIRE
If you have a friend or relative visiting you, or would yourself like to go round the shops, hospital visit, etc. but are a little unsteady or tire easily, why not hire one of our wheelchairs. They can be hired out for a day, a week or for a holiday.
7 days hire costs *£18.00 Daily Hire costs *£3.00
*A deposit of £50 will be required when hiring.

Befriender are volunteers who visit clients on a regular basis, usually once a week, for a cup of tea and a chat at a pre-arranged day and time. The idea of the service is to relieve isolation and loneliness.
If you decide that you would like someone to visit you our co-ordinator will visit and have a chat to find our what your interests are, etc, so that she can match you with a Befriender.
When a suitable Befriender is found the co-ordinator will them bring them to meet you and this will, hopefully, be the beginning of a wonderful friendship.
If we are unable to find a Befriender then you will be offered a telephone call from our K.I.T. Line. This is a weekly call at a prearranged time to have a chat and make sure that everything is alright.
All our Befriender are volunteers and carry ID.
If you would like to become a Befriender we would be happy to talk to you are we always have a waiting list of clients to be visited.

Free Hearing Aid After Care Clinics
Call in and have your NHS hearing aid cleaned and collect new *batteries. Find out how to make the best of your hearind aid. We can also tell you about equipment to help you at home such as special doorbells, telephones and TV listeners. All free of charge and no appointment necessary. We hold regular clinics at the Day Centre at Rotary House, Norman Road on the following dates:

If you have a hearing loss and would like to improve your communication skills why not join our friendly, free, lip reading group at Kings Hill Community Hall on Thursday mornings during term time.
